Why He Drives
"When I get into something, I go all the way with it."

"We joke that Roger has more laps at these tracks than some of our instructors," says Richard Petty Driving Experience president Rick Fedrizzi, "Everytime we're going to a new racetrack, we just call him up now."

Auto Racing Fan Makes History

On Wednesday  August 16 at Watkins Glen International, NASCAR fan and driving enthusiast Roger Hunt became the first non-professional driver to have made the ultimate racing fan's fantasy: To drive stock car and open wheel cars on every major Nextel Cup and Busch Series track in the country. Roger completed the quest by conquering the twisted turns of Watkins Glenn with family & friends cheering him on.

Roger spent 12 years driving on 32 NASCAR tracks at 47 different events to fulfill his quest of becoming the first fan to have raced on all Nextel Cup tracks. To complete his quest, Roger went to several different racing schools including Drivetech, Russel Racing, Monster Racing & Stock Car Racing Experience. For 25 of the tracks, Roger went to the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Imagine driving a real stock car yourself on a Nextel Cup track: 1800BePetty.com

CURRENT NEWS

In order to help the environment, Roger is buying a terrapass (TerraPass.com)  to offset the CO2 emissions he has created during his quest. Money is invested in renewable projects that reduce greenhouse gas pollution.

Roger's son, Woodstock artist Michael Hunt (cosmicamericanart.com), is offering sandblasted redwood racing-themed art (see above). All money raised  will go to the Petty family's Victory Junction camp for kids with special health care needs (VictoryJunction.org).
